In the still, quiet of the night

As I sit here alone in the wee hours of the morning. I soak in the silence. It's rare to have the house quiet enough to hear the clocks ticking at any other time of the day. But right now, the kids are asleep and the televisions are off so I'm able to hear all of the moans and groans of the house.

I'm here in the dark, and my keyboard is lit only by the glow from the monitor. My mind goes straight to a prayer at quiet times like this. I pray for protection mostly. Protection for my children, my husband, my home. I feel certain that my prayers will be answered. It's the same prayer every night, but it is always with the same deep faith that all will be well in the morning.
